An Electrical Apprenticeship usually takes four years to complete. As an apprentice you work four days per work and attend TAFE one day per week. You need to be good at Maths to succeed in an Electrical Apprenticeship. There are a number of ways to gain an apprenticeship.
1. Ask family and friends if they know of an electrician who is looking to employ an apprentice.
2. Enrol in a pre apprenticeship course at TAFE usually called Electrotechnology.
3. Check energy provider websites such as Ausgrid, Energy Australia, Integral Energy and also their Facebook sites. These providers often have apprenticeship intakes every year.
4. Local councils can have electrician apprenticeships.
5. Ring electricians from the local area to ask if they will employ an apprentice.
6. Get your driving license, transport and a White Card.
